Carolyn Ashaba is a professional journalist with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, complemented by additional certifications in Media Management, Digital Journalism, Fact checking and the use of social media to source and spread science journalism, among others.
She has worked with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Television (UBC TV) and continues to contribute as a freelance journalist. Driven by her passion for storytelling and media innovation, Carolyn founded One Africa Media, an online news channel dedicated to amplifying African voices. She also serves as the CEO of Inspire Women Uganda, a platform committed to promoting equal opportunities and empowerment for women across the country.
Carolyn’s commitment to bridging the gap between media and the public has seen her represent Uganda at prestigious forums, including the Science Forum South Africa (SFSA) 2018 convention. She has been a panelist at the African Women in Media (AWiM) Conference in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, and actively engages with initiatives such as the Media Challenge Initiative Uganda and Media Focus on Africa.
With over eight years of experience in the media industry, Carolyn remains passionate about creating transformative experiences for journalists and communication professionals, aiming to foster innovation, inclusivity, and professional growth within the media landscape.
