Jan Ajwang is a Ugandan Communications Professional with over 15 years of experience driving impactful change across journalism, public relations, media development, and training. She is currently a team Leader at Media Focus on Africa-Uganda, a media development organization. Here, she spearheads the ideation and implementation of media projects across multi-media production, capacity building, and Media outreach in various thematic areas in journalism, human rights, peacebuilding, elections, governance, accountability, and gender equality. Some of these have been projects promoting digital inclusion, enhancing women’s roles and voices in media, ensuring journalist safety online and offline, fostering media sustainability, and supporting rural-based media. She has also been a journalist and a newspaper columnist in Uganda and Tanzania, and has also held multiple roles in corporate communications in Uganda. She holds an MA in International Public Relations and Global Communications from Cardiff University and a BA in from Makerere University (Kampala). A certified media trainer, she bridges industry experience with academia through her training roles in the Media industry and a part-time teaching role at University. Her professional reach extends across Uganda, Tanzania, and the United Kingdom.
